Reiki history has changed over the years as new information is uncovered. There are many forms of it,and there are a lot of theories about where it came from. Reiki healing techniques are common to many ancient cultures including Tibetan, Chinese, Roman, Egyptian, Greek, and Indian. The Reiki most commonly used in thought to come from Tibet, then found its way to Japan. The healing modality was lost, rediscovered in the 1800s, then spread around the world. According to esoteric Japanese history, Sanat Kumara was the first teacher on earth of the laying-on-of-hands healing system known as "Reiki." Legend states that Sanat Kumara arrived on Mt. Kurama in Japan approximately six million years ago and many believe his spirit still dwells within the mountain. Today, high upon Mt. Kurama, a shrine dedicated to Sanat Kumara is daily revered by Buddhist priests and his dedicated Japanese worshippers. MIKAO USUI Reiki was "re-discovered" in the late 1800s by Mikao Usui, a Japanese educator, who was one of Sanat Kumara's worshippers. Dr. Usui, who was a Japanese Buddhist went fasting and meditating for 21 days on the holy mount, Kurama, in 1914. During this period he experienced a "satori" - a realization of enlightenment akin to a vision quest, and Reiki was re-discovered and his teachings unfolded.

HAWAYO TAKATA The system of Reiki Healing that evolved from Dr. Usui's method is called the Usui System of Natural Healing or Usui Reiki Ryoho. One of Usui's students, Hawayo Takata (1900-1980), a woman whose illnesses healed following Reiki therapy in Japan in 1935, eventually came to the United States and lived on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. She was responsible for teaching Reiki masters now living in North America, who have since then helped to to spread the practice of Reiki throughout the world.

SANAT KUMARA The sanskrit name "Sanat Kumara" means "always a youth." Ascended Master Sanat Kumara is called The Ancient of Days and the youth of endless summers. From Venus he has assisted Earth and humanity from the lighter realms perhaps longer than any other Master, millions of years! Master Sanat Kumara's vibration is so high that he has never incarnated into a physical body here on Earth. Master Sanat Kumara has been the overseer of Earth's development for the last 18 million years. His Light is brighter than the sun's light, and he has been unstinting in his service to mankind, to God and to all of existence. It is difficult for us, as 3rd dimensional beings, to fathom the strength, power, love and wisdom of this Divine Being. He is responsible for receiving, stepping-down and transmitting God's energy to us in a form that we can handle. Master Sanat Kumara knows every thought you think, is aware of every individual's blueprint, and holds the intention that Earth become a planet of souls connected to God the Source through the Christ Consciousness.
